The MP3 bitrate is yours to pick in the options (192 kbps by default, up to 320 for music). And when the video's audio track is already AAC, the M4A option copies it across untouched, with no re-encoding: instant and completely lossless — the tool tells you and falls back on its own if the codec doesn't allow it.

Does it work with formats other than MP4?
Yes: iPhone MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI… anything the engine can read is accepted — the page is simply optimized for the most common case. Drop your file in and the tool will tell you honestly if it can't handle it.
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps, the default, is right for speech and talks. For music, go up to 256 or 320 kbps. Remember that no setting creates quality: if the video's sound is poor, a high bitrate won't fix it.
My video is large — will it cope?
Up to 500 MB, everything runs smoothly on an ordinary machine; the tool accepts up to 1.5 GB, the point beyond which a browser tab's memory gives out. Past that, trim the video first with the dedicated tool, then extract the audio.
Is the audio sent to a server?
Never: the conversion engine (ffmpeg) loads into your browser and works right there. That's what makes the tool safe to use on a confidential meeting or a private recording.
