Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, but be careful: enlarging invents pixels that were never captured, so the result softens. Up to about 2× the original size it usually holds up; beyond that the blur becomes obvious.
How do I keep the proportions?
The ratio lock is on by default — type a new width and the height follows automatically, and vice versa. Turn it off only when you genuinely need a different aspect ratio.
What size should I use for a website?
1200 to 1600 px wide covers full-width images, 800 px is plenty for a blog post and 400 px suits a thumbnail. There is no benefit to publishing an image larger than it will ever be displayed.
Does resizing reduce the file size too?
Almost always, and often dramatically — halving the width and height cuts the pixel count to a quarter. Combine it with the compressor for the smallest possible file.
