Currency Converter
Convert between the world's major currencies at reference rates.
About this tool
Buying from an overseas shop, budgeting a trip, checking an invoice in another currency: this converter moves between the major world currencies — dollar, euro, pound, Swiss franc, yen, and two dozen more — using reference market rates, with offline fallback rates if you have no connection.
The conversion is calculated in your browser. Because these are indicative mid-market rates, the amount your bank actually charges will differ slightly once its margin and any transfer fees are applied.
Frequently asked questions
Are these the rates my bank will give me?
No — these are indicative mid-market rates. Banks and card issuers add a margin, typically 1 to 3%, and sometimes a fixed fee, so the amount debited will be a little higher than the figure shown here.
Which way round does an exchange rate work?
USD/EUR means how many euros you get for one dollar. At 0.92, $100 = €92 and €100 = 100 ÷ 0.92 ≈ $108.70. The converter handles both directions automatically — just tap swap.
Can I convert large amounts?
The arithmetic is the same at any size, but for a genuine international transfer it is worth comparing providers: the spread between the cheapest and the most expensive is substantial on a large sum.
Do the rates update automatically?
The tool fetches current reference rates when it can and shows the update time. If it cannot reach the network, it falls back to stored indicative rates and tells you so.
Is it really free, with no sign-up?
Yes — the tool is free, needs no account and has no usage limit. Processing happens locally in your browser, so your data never leaves your device.
