About this tool
Every photo carries invisible data: your phone model, the exact date and time, the camera settings, sometimes your name — and very often the GPS coordinates of the place it was taken. Post it on a classifieds site or a forum, or send it to a stranger, and you are handing over your home address. This tool starts by showing you, in plain language, exactly what your file is telling the world, map link included. Then one button gives you the clean version.
Cleaning strips EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comment blocks without touching a single pixel: your JPG or PNG keeps identical quality, only the hidden ID card disappears. The result is even re-analyzed automatically to confirm nothing survived. Everything runs in your browser — the photo you want to anonymize is never uploaded to a server, which would rather defeat the point.

What is actually stored inside my photos?
Usually camera make and model, lens, date and time, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, editing software, sometimes author and copyright — and above all GPS coordinates if location was on. This tool lists everything it finds before deleting it.
Does removing metadata degrade the image?
No. By default only the metadata blocks are removed from the file; the pixels are copied byte for byte with no re-compression. A collapsed option still lets you force a full re-encode at 95% quality if you prefer that route.
Don't social networks strip EXIF already?
Facebook, Instagram and X usually clean published photos, but not files sent in a direct message, nor anything you upload to a classifieds listing, a blog, a shared Drive folder or a Discord server. That is where the leak happens.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. JPG and PNG are cleaned losslessly; WebP is re-saved in its original format. iPhone HEIC files are converted to JPG first, which removes every trace of metadata along the way.
