A 500-word essay, a 155-character meta description, a three-minute speech: the word count is never a detail. This counter shows words, characters (with and without spaces), sentences, paragraphs, reading time and speaking time on every keystroke — no button to press.
The detailed analysis reveals your keyword density with stop words removed, handy for checking that an article doesn't repeat the same term ten times. Your text never leaves your browser: it is simply kept on your own device so you find it again next time.
Frequently asked questions
How are words counted?
Every run of letters or digits counts as one word; internal apostrophes and hyphens don't split it ("don't" and "e-mail" each count as one). Stray punctuation is never counted.
What reading speed is used?
200 words per minute for silent reading, the adult average, and 130 words per minute for reading aloud — the pace recommended for a speech or a video script.
What is keyword density for?
It shows each word's share of the text, stop words excluded. Above 3–4% for a single word, an article looks over-optimised to search engines and readers alike.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is computed in your browser; the text is stored only in your device's local storage, and the Clear button wipes it for good.
